Story Analysis:
In a secluded hick town – not to be found on any map – a big city environmentalist must fight more than pollution when he discovers that the people around him are not actually being randomly murdered then raised from the dead – but in fact – that extraterrestrials in the form of cellophane have invaded his town and are recycling humans . . . But wait! There’s more . . .
MILES GARDNER, a Clark Kent prototype and agent of the Environmental Protection Office is hell-bent on shutting down PlasTexx – a toxic spewing recycling plant on the outskirts of Uncertain, Texas . . . Our hero is challenged by CHARLIE P. FOSTER – the dubious owner of PlasTexx and the town’s political puppet master.
Miles solicits help from his best friend and oafish co-worker, GUS – whose favorite pastime is snacking in between asthma attacks. Now Gus is left holding the bag; not just any bag – but a plastic bag with an attitude… Meanwhile, the town’s gossip chain is abuzz with a report of missing kinfolk; all presumed dead. Even Gus is suddenly nowhere to be found. Miles suspects that toxins from PlasTexx are somehow responsible. Furthering his investigation Miles finds no help from local authorities and no support from his neurotic wife.
There seems to be only one link holding the gossip chain together; rumors of a wild-eyed HERMIT seen at the scene of those now missing. Miles wants answers. If only he could find this crazy old man… What Miles finds instead makes him wish he had never come to this God-forsaken town. Gus’ dead and rotting body has been stuffed in a dumpster with his head encased in cellophane, (keeping it surprisingly fresh.) Then the corpse mysteriously vanishes removing all evidence of foul play.
Things go from bizarre to downright sinister when Miles sees Gus alive and well amongst authorities. Something is seriously wrong here… Gus has never been well a day in his life.
Not sure who he can trust anymore, Miles turns to the only place of refuge he has know since coming to Uncertain; the town resident seamstress and licensed psychologist, LAURA STACEY – who is secretly in love with Miles. Instantly, Laura finds herself caught up in Miles plight. But before the two can take action, Miles is framed by Charlie Foster and is accused of kidnapping and murder. It’s up to Laura now to find out what’s going on. Things become all to clear when Laura stumbles upon the wild-eyed hermit who tells her that; “We’ve been invaded by Extra-testicles from outer space!”
Using her psycho-babble, Laura not only persuades the hermit to help free Miles from jail, but she also makes the ole guy feel real good about himself in the process…
Before giving his life to save Miles and Laura from certain death, the hermit tells them everything they need to know about these polyethylene foes… everything, that is, except where they come from, what they’re doing here and how they can be stopped. Left with nothing but a truckload of dynamite, Miles and Laura force their way into PlasTexx where they are confronted by the entire population of Uncertain, Texas – all 29 of them – all recycled into alien life forms.
Using a match and a huge can of Aqua-Net, Laura torches anything that moves while Miles toasts alien after alien with his flare gun. Burning their way through PlasTexx, the Rambo couple comes face to face with Charlie P. Foster who of course enlightens them with his heinous plan to ship plastic products around the world that will terminate then recycle every human being on the face of the earth. If Miles and Laura do not cooperate they will die where they stand… Not at all too happy with Foster’s plan, Miles takes an ax to a conveniently located vat of solvent allowing it’s lethal innards to gush forth. As Foster disintegrates into a pool of bubbling ooze he shrieks out his final cry, “I’m melting! I’m melting! Oh, what a world.”
With all the dynamite in place Miles lights the fuse and blows PlasTexx back to
Hell from whence it came. But did he and Laura really succeed? Could Foster have
already shipped his product to strategic targets around the globe?… Upon
arriving in Los Angeles, Miles and Laura discover that the terror has only begun
